Supporting native tree conservation - our latest volunteering day
On 11 October, our team was delighted to return to the site at Cotil de Vibert for an autumnal volunteering day as part of our continued support for Jersey Trees for Life and the Mont Vibert Wilding Project.
The group of 6 volunteers, had their work cut out for them as they helped to clear and prepare the site for winter.
Work during this session involved removing sycamores and conifers to create space for the planting of native species, such as oaks and hazel. The team also assisted with clearing the bracken and maintaining the hedgerow planted earlier this year.
Josh Le Corre who formed part of the volunteer group, said, ‘One of the best things about this project is that it is not just a one-off. We are providing long-term support which means we get to come and work on the site throughout this year. We really get to see the impact our work has and the fantastic progress we have contributed to. Jersey Trees for Life has done amazing work transforming this site and it is wonderful to know we have helped.’
Jersey Trees for Life is a charity committed to planting, conserving, and protecting trees in Jersey whilst raising awareness of their ecological and social importance. We are proud to have supported its Mont Vibert Wilding Project at Cotil de Vibert since 2022, focusing on re-wilding and preserving indigenous tree species, creating a biodiverse woodland and also attracting bees and other local wildlife.
