Siam Cup celebratory charity dinner with The Guernsey Raiders and Jersey Rugby Club
We were delighted to support a fantastic celebratory dinner in Jersey and Guernsey on Wednesday 1st May and Thursday 2 May, kicking off the festivities ahead of the Siam Cup weekend.
The event featured renowned sports broadcaster Jill Douglas MBE as a guest speaker, with Nathan Hines, former Scotland and British Lion rugby international and Jack Clifford, former England rugby international, also attending.
Jill truly stole the show on Wednesday night, and what a turnout it was - the Jersey Rugby Club was buzzing! We're thrilled to announce that the Jersey raffle managed to raise an incredible £1700 for the MND Association Jersey. Huge thanks to Don Connolly, Hon Treasurer of MND Jersey, for shedding light on the impact of the disease and how these funds will be utilised.
On Thursday, with 60 people in attendance, this exciting event took place at the Guernsey Raiders Clubhouse. We were lucky enough to also have three of the Guernsey Raiders Ladies team join us, enjoying a wonderful dinner with Jill Douglas and Nathan Hines.
As well as supporting the Guernsey RFC, a special raffle took place, raising £910 for the Guernsey Motor Neurone Charity, a very special organisation we are grateful to have helped support.
Jill Douglas MBE proved a fascinating speaker, regaling guests with stories from her life as a sports presenter, rugby fan and the CEO of the ‘My Name’s Doddie’ Foundation, established by the late Doddie Weir, to raise funds for research into Motor Neuron Disease.
Richard Clarke from Gallagher commented: “We were delighted to sponsor this event and help raise money for the Guernsey Motor Neurone Charity. By bringing inspiring individuals such as Jill Douglas, Nathan Hines and Jack Clifford, we want to show our commitment to the sporting community of Guernsey, especially in the run-up to this year’s Siam Cup."
