Rossborough staff raise money for Crossroads, our chosen charity of 2022
Rossborough Isle of Man has donated £1,000 to Crossroads, our chosen charity of the year for 2022.
The team at Rossborough on the Isle of Man raised £500 through hosting a Christmas jumper day in the office. The amount was then matched by parent company Gallagher.
The Isle of Man based charity supports carers who provide unpaid care and support to families, friends, partners, or neighbours who are unwell or need medical support.
Rossborough’s £1,000 donation will help to fund their large range of services, including adult services, children’s services, support services, and The Crosswords Manx Workshop.
The Crosswords Manx workshop gives people with long term heart conditions and disabilities the opportunity to realise their full potential while providing them with paid employment.
Another service provided by Crossroads includes managing the care responsibilities from family members to give them time to themselves or to grab some extra sleep. Additionally, the Social Club gives adults with disabilities a space to gain independence and develop sustainable self-management.
Supporting every carer on the island is important to Crossroads, which is apparent through the young carer’s project that offers carers under the age of 18 fortnightly opportunities to have a break from caring responsibilities with activities on and off Island.
In the Isle of Man alone there are 10,000 carers. Three in five people in their lives will become a carer, sometimes more than once. Becoming a carer can often happen after accidents very suddenly, so support from charities like Crossroads can be pivotal in people’s lives.
For others, becoming a carer can stem from the gradual worsening of a family member, friend or neighbour’s mental or physical health overtime, which can give them more time to adjust to their new normal and understand what support they may benefit from
Megan Faragher, PR & Marketing Manager at Crossroads, said: “We are extremely grateful to Rossborough Insurance for choosing to support Crossroads, and to Gallagher for matching their donation.”
“The money raised will help us to continue supporting carers in the Isle of Man, and we would like to thank the team at Rossborough for their fantastic fundraising efforts.’
