Raise money with Jersey Reds Women’s Rugby Team for the Jersey Women’s Refuge
Supported by Rossborough Insurance, this April will see the Jersey Reds Women’s Rugby Team take part in an exciting cycling challenge to raise money for the Jersey Women’s Refuge.
Jersey Women’s Refuge will benefit from all funds raised; an especially vital cause due to rising need for this service following the Covid-19 lockdown. For anyone who would like to support the team and donate, please visit sportsgiving.co.uk/sponsorship/entry/424129 or search ‘sportsgiving Jersey Reds.’
The Jersey Reds Women Round the Rock Cycle, supported by Rossborough, will take place on Easter Monday (5 April 2021). The event not only includes a 50 mile cycle around Jersey but there will also be five special checkpoints along the way, where the team’s coaches will have set up different mystery tasks for the team to complete before they can continue their cycle. This could be anything from a selfie challenging to something much tougher.
Team captain Lauren Lowe said, ‘We are really looking forward to getting out there and working as a team to support the Jersey Women’s Refuge. Our platinum sponsor, Rossborough, has continued to be especially supportive of our team and will be matching some of the funds raised. Even several members of the Rossborough team, led by Richard Clarke, Managing Director of Rossborough Healthcare, are also taking part and cycling alongside us.’
James Anderson, Group Managing Director commented, ‘We are delighted to not only sponsor but take part in this fantastic challenge. As a community broker which has served the island for many years, we are passionate about championing and supporting community groups and charities in each of the islands we serve.
As a part of Gallagher, one of the largest insurance broking groups in the world and a sponsor of the Rugby Premiership, we are part of an organisation which supports excellence in rugby and all sport. This event shows not only what a great team Jersey Reds Women are on and off the field, but we are proud to also be raising money for the vital work of the Jersey Women’s Refuge.’
Marine Oliveira of Jersey Women’s Refuge added: ‘We are very excited and grateful to have been chosen by Jersey Reds Women for their cycling challenge. It cost over half a million pounds a year to run all of our essential services, from our 24/7 helpline and safe house to our Outreach and Children & Young People service. We could not do this without the support of our community and teams like Jersey Reds Women.’
