Meet Josh one of our Rising Stars
Josh Da Silva, 22, is a Client Relationship Manager in our Jersey Private Clients team. He joined Rossborough in May 2021 as a Personal Lines Broker before moving into a Broker role within our highly respected Private Clients team. Josh, along with one of his colleagues, has been shortlisted for this year’s Jersey Finance Rising Stars awards.
We caught up with Josh to find out more about his role and why he chose an insurance career.
What attracted you to apply for a role at Rossborough?
I had just finished my A-levels and had a school friend at the company who spoke highly of Rossborough. I was looking for a role in finance but with such a great recommendation from my friend, I thought I’d apply for a role at Rossborough.
Did you know much about what a career in insurance would be like before you applied?
I had no idea, other than what my friend had told me, about what a career in insurance would be like before I joined - I had been considering a career in finance and hadn’t looked much beyond that. I feel strongly that school leavers and graduates should have insurance in their sights too.
What does your day-to-day role entail?
Every day is different. I look after my own book of clients, reviewing renewals and mid-term adjustments as well as taking on new business and internal company referrals.
What do enjoy most about your role?
I really enjoy working with my clients. In the Private Clients team in particular we have the opportunity to build relationships and rapport with our clients, becoming their trusted insurance advisers.
Have you undertaken CPD / qualifications/training? How has this helped you to perform your role?
I completed my Chartered Institute of Insurance Certificate in Insurance within a year, in January. It, alongside my practical experience, has given me greater knowledge about principles, processes, and products which I can utilise for the benefit of my clients.
Where do you see yourself in two years, five years, ten years?
I will have advanced in my career in insurance and be specialising in a particular field (yet to be determined)! I’d also like to travel more around the world – and as part of Gallagher, one of the leading global insurance broking groups, I may even be able to do this as part of my work.
Why is delivering great client service so important?
It shows clients we care for their insurance needs and not that we are simply selling them a product – we are giving them great advice. I’ve even managed to arrange urgent cover for a client who was purchasing a new property – a property that was going through court the same day!
