Connecting the community: Rossborough and Locate Guernsey welcome new islanders to the Guille-Allès Library
Last week, we were thrilled to support a fantastic event at the Guille-Allès Library with Locate Guernsey. The event was for all newcomers to the island who have recently relocated to Guernsey as an evening introducing them to the library and its community.
Set in the Hayward Room under its vaulted ceiling of beautiful wooden rafters, the evening saw Richard Clarke, Alistair Martin, Michael Sarahs, and Kim Davies from Rossborough join the Chief Librarian, Cornelia James, and Locate Guernsey in a warm welcome to Guernsey.
Richard Clarke, Rossborough Managing Director for Guernsey, said, ‘We were delighted to take part in such a wonderful evening. The Guille-Allès Library is one of the cornerstones of the local community and it was wonderful to welcome so many new people to the island. Like the library, Rossborough is fully committed to the communities it serves and with over 50 years in Guernsey, we really do understand the uniqueness of island life and how important local communities are.’
The evening was also an excellent opportunity to see everything the library offers with activities serving every age group every day with events for babies and toddlers, book clubs, and lunchtime meditation sessions, whilst The Fab Lab provides community access to cutting edge technology and creativity. Guests at the event also enjoyed a tour of the library, including a chance to view its copy of the famous ‘The Birds of America’ by John James Audubon.
