A Women’s Day to Remember!

Here is the post-match report from Saturday's Gallagher Game Day.
We didn’t just celebrate Women’s Day—we made it a winner in every sense! Vagabonds Ladies put on a dominant display in Women’s NC2 North (South), securing a 56-5 victory over Littleborough in front of our match day sponsors, Gallagher, and our Patron, Lady Lorimer.
A huge thank you to Gallagher for their incredible support and for sponsoring such a fantastic occasion. Their backing of women’s rugby means so much to us, and we’re grateful for their involvement. The day kicked off with a delicious lunch provided by Woodbourne Kitchen, enjoyed by a brilliant group of guests, including Lady Lorimer, the Gallagher team, our Veteran ladies, and members of the men’s team.

On the pitch, we knew we had to put on a show, and we delivered in style. Freya Crowe ran in a first-half hat trick, with Greeba Taisia and Maylyn Campbell also crossing the whitewash. Sammy Macdonald slotted two conversions, giving Vagas a commanding 29-0 lead. Littleborough, who were much stronger than the scoreline suggests, fought back with a well-earned try from Charlotte Lever, reducing the deficit to 29-5 at halftime.
The second half saw Crowe add her fourth, while Campbell equaled her tally with three more tries. Captain Leona McGovern also joined the scoresheet with a long-range effort, and Macdonald added another conversion, sealing the 56-5 win. The victory temporarily lifts us Ladies to second place in the league standings, pending Sunday’s results.
Off the pitch, the celebrations continued, with over £1,250 raised in our Gallagher raffle, which will be split between the club and Victim Support, the ladies' chosen charity. The evening wrapped up in true style, with matching fancy dress alongside Littleborough—a great way to round off a memorable day!
Vagabonds will be seeing Littleborough again next week in the final game of the season, this time away. A huge thank you to everyone who made this Women’s Day so special—players, supporters, sponsors, and the fantastic opposition. Let’s finish the season strong!"
